About Sifu David Hayes
I started Dayan Qigong in 1993. As a child I would watch Bruce Lee films and try to copy the moves wanting to be Bruce Lee. When I met Master Michael Tse I felt inside as though I had found Bruce Lee himself, but I was yet to discover what skills the Tse Centre had to offer.
Over the years I have developed and dropped many bad habits. I am still developing in many areas and finding new good ways to grow and cultivate. Major lessons have been patience, loyalty, honesty, respect and trust.
The Dayan Wild Goose Qigong, was the first form I learnt and is at the root of my heart. When doing the Wild Goose it is always enjoyable and refreshing. After 16 years, it is still my best friend.
Taiji helped me identify the power of using softness with the training partner, and that using strength and aggression, would result in weakness.
Wing Chun has enabled me to analyse and break things down for clarity, and has taught me there are many options available other than fighting.I always feel happy and peaceful after practising Wing Chun.
The first Chun Yuen form I learnt was Great Sadness Gong. I felt like a little kid jumping around, happy, joyful and feeling free within myself.
I found Hard Qigong a different kind of training which required me to be more self-disciplined in my practise, which gave me a strong mind, strong body and strong will.
Great skill will always have a long lineage and we should never forget where it has come from. I always love when we all come together on residential instructor courses, classes, meals, as a family that care and respect each other.
I hope you all enjoy your journey too.
